AC and DC Generation Demo

This piece of equipment is a 3-phase motor directly coupled to a DC machine. It is typically used to show both AC and DC power generation.

It has a see-through cover so the inner components of the rotating machines can be viewed. Normally this machine would require a 3-phase power supply with a variable DC output. This power source is typically only found in lab space, and is never available in our classrooms at TRU. I created a power supply which can be plugged into a standard 15A, 120V receptacle found in our classroom, and produces fixed and variable DC, and 3-phase AC via a variable frequency drive.
